Van-life Bed Solution
In my ITP 326 class, each group was tasked with the common entrepreneurial assignment of finding a problem in our lives and making a solution for it. My group focused in on trying to find a bed platform solution for people who live or camp in their vans that was comfortable but also maximized the space available when not in use.
We started the design process with customer interviews and surveys. Using this data we came up with a group of initial product designs. After conducting more research we narrowed our ideas down to one using a concept combination table and decision matrix. From here we flushed out our design and modeled it using CAD 3D modeling software, and began to prototype our idea. Despite making a small scale proof-of-concept, this was only a one quarter class so we weren’t able to actually manufacture our idea or produce any real prototypes.
