Trolley Grocery Shopping App
Trolley is an app that facilitates in-person grocery shopping. Our technology allows shoppers to easily locate items, receive personalized coupon offers, and then checkout and pay from the app. For grocery stores, we give them the analytics and advertising potential traditionally only held by online retailers. This is the product of my year long senior project at Cal Poly. As an entrepreneurship student, I got paired up with another business major and three engineering students. Our goal was to create a product by the end of the year. My team decided to focus on the grocery shopping industry and after a few pivots we focused in on creating an app that helps you shop more efficiently. Unfortunately, our team didn't have any computer science majors (all three of our engineers are focused on mechanical engineering), so I took over the CS role for making the app. I learned the design software, Figma, and created an interactive prototype that can be found here. Next, I used a service called Bravo Studio to link my Figma design with databases I created using AirTable. With these new features, we were able to create a testable MVP for our app, which you can download on Apple TestFlight here. We partnered with Campus Market, one of Cal Poly's grocery stores, and used their inventory to populate our app and get user feedback. After undergoing more rounds of testing we were able to develop a final prototype that fully met user needs and customer requirements.
